2000 years ago on September 9th, in the Teutoburg Forest, Hermann of the Germanic Cherusci tribe ambushed and destroyed 3 full Roman Legions and thus altered the future of Europe and the German people in profound ways.

On September 19th, we will be gathering at Killmeyer's Old Bavarian Inn (which has some of the best German food and beer on the East Coast) to celebrate this great hero's victory and perhaps draw forth some of his hamingja to enhance the power of the Folk for our current battles!

We'll also discuss items such as Rune Galdr / Seid / Spa and Germanic Heathen Community building.

The focus of this Meetup Session will be completely on Germanic Heathen community building.

There will be very little focus on Runes in this session - so if you are an eclectic that is interested in the Runes just as another tool for fortune telling - this session is most likely not for you.

For those interested in exploring the existing and potential community based spiritual practice options for Germanic Heathens - please feel free to attend.

Chris Loscar - the Asatru Folk Assembly's Folkbuilder for the PA/NJ/NY region is expected to be on hand so we are anticipating a very good discussion.

This last past of the Meetup will be for those who have an interest in building the local Germanic Heathen Community. I realize that not all members are interested in this aspect of the Meetup so if you want to leave when this part starts - it is perfectly fine.

For the others, we'll take this time to examine the benefits of various Heathen Group activities and rituals and discuss the possibility of establishing a side group / Kindred in the future.

Members will be asked to narrate a "story" of the Runes - from Fehu to Othala - where either the Runer's personal development is recounted or a cosmological interpretation of the objective universe is explained in a Runic framework.

Members may choose from The Elder Futhark, Younger, Anglo-Saxon Futhorc etc .....

I believe this will be an enjoyable and constructive way for the group to not only share interpretations of individual Runes but also examine their relation to other Runes within the same system.

Please write out your notes beforehand so we can have them read aloud before discussing as a group.
